THE CHALET

The Chalet

Made up of two apartments, either as Self Catering with ski lessons included (optional) or Catered, with FREE ski lessons from Monday to Thursday (also optional).

The views up and down the valley are stunning! This is a great base for discovering the valley during SUMMER, excellent in the winter for DOWNHILL AND CROSS COUNTRY SKIING. Being centrally based it gives a good choice either way for LARGE AND SMALLER SKI RESORTS, Pila, being the closest just 7 minutes to the lifts and AMPLE CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRACKS all over the valley, plus the addition during the SUMMER of many outdoor pursuits, sports, art and culture.

Each apartment has its own entrance.

The lower apartment (generally used by us to live in) has 1 bedroom with a bathroom and a kitchen/lounge/diner. With a small double bed settee in the lounge it will sleep up to 4 people and has access to the lower balcony area.

The upper apartment, which is on two floors, has two bedrooms (one will sleep 3), two bathrooms and a large kitchen/lounge/diner with room for 2 more on bed settee, so long as you are all one group. This apartment will sleep up to 7 people.

IN WINTER - rooms can be booked for 2-3 people on a catered arrangement or the whole apartment may be booked on a Self catering basis.

IN SUMMER - the apartments are bookable only on a self catering basis.

WE HAVE BABY EQUIPMENT AT THE CHALET-TRAVEL BED, HIGHCHAIR, CHANGING MAT, BOWLS AND SPOONS

WHO WE ARE

We are a family of English Ski Instructors and have been living in Italy for 18 years although we have moved around the local valley we have run the chalet in different locations, settling in our present one at Petit Pollein just this season. It is an old stone house dating back to the 1700's which has been modernised, centrally heated with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in total over 2 apartments.

David and Jane trained in several European locations including the UK and live in the lower apartment during the winter, always on hand to give advice and answer any questions.

Maria, their niece is a home grown instructor, however since qualifying she has taken opportunities in Scotland, Switzerland and another area of Italy. She is currently back in the UK working but....

Glennis lives in the next village and often helps us with groups when we are busy plus she likes to cross country ski in her spare time. Glennis teaches both downhill and cross country skiing.

We pride ourselves in giving a very personal service. We are a very small company and our lessons are equally as personal with only 2-5 people normally in each group which means everyone gets more personalised attention. Lessons are of course optional and we often may take a group who wish just to be shown around the area. We may also add others staying in the local vicinity to our lessons.

We do encourage people who haven't skied before to take some lessons at their local dry slope or ski dome so that they don't waste the first 2-3 days of their holiday learning the basics. However it is not obligatory to do this and we will help you at whatever level you are at. It's just a suggestion so that you can discover the wonders of the mountains more readily.

Whatever your requirements we will endeavor to help and guide you so that your holiday is a good experience and as memorable as possible.

SUMMER IN THE VALLEY is quite an incredible contrast with many outdoor sports, a while valley to discover with all the neighbouring valleys makes the area incredibly exciting! In PILA just 5 minutes to the lifts is the largest downhill mountain bike area in europe. The whole valley is a monologue of history and mystique with many castles and buildings to visit. During the summer temperatures rise to 30-40 degrees so there are are plenty of outdoor pools and lakes to take the edge off. It rains very little, just a quick down pour occasionally, making it an excellent wine growing area. Visit a cheese factory or indulge in the gastronomy of the area washed down with a local wine. We have an in-house brochure of places to visit or look on www.lovevda.it for ideas of activities and visits. You are welcome to bring your well behaved doggy with you and if you have an activity you can't take him to, we are happy to take care of him for a couple hours by arrangement.
